LEC 4: RECAP - A JOURNEY FROM LAW TO LOCAL

The recent activity session of the Legal English Club (LEC) with the theme “A Journey from Law to Local” was successfully held. It was truly a session where learning met fun—filled with laughter from start to finish, and the energy was simply unstoppable
LEC was honored to welcome our distinguished guests:

• Ms. PhD. Katarzyna Miaskowska-Daszkiewicz – Polish international scholar;
• Mr. PhD. Huỳnh Văn Hiến – Lecturer of English Language and Culture, Faculty of Foreign Languages; Academic Advisor of the Legal English Club;
• Ms. LL.M. Lê Huỳnh Phương Chinh – Head of the Center of Clinical Legal Education, Deputy Head of the Comparative Law Center, Chairwoman of the Legal English Club.

The series of games under the theme “From Law to Local” were designed to bring legal English closer to everyday life:

• Tongue Twister: Participants passed around an object, and the selected player challenged themselves with fun and tricky tongue twisters—helping to warm up the atmosphere and improve English pronunciation in an engaging way.
• Talk Lab: Participants took on the role of local tour guides, guiding international students around Can Tho University (CTU) through simulated conversations. This activity created opportunities to apply English in familiar, real-life situations.
• Body Talk: The Organizing Committee provided a law-related keyword, and participants had to use body language to express it. This game helped participants remember legal terminology in a vivid and creative manner.
• Speakverse: Participants were given hypothetical scenarios by the Organizing Committee and were required to respond and answer questions in English, thereby training their reflexes and critical thinking in communication contexts.
• Voice Under Spotlight: In this game, partucipants were invited on stage to draw a question card and respond to the question they picked. The activity helped participants practice handling unexpected questions. More than just a game, it was a challenge that tested confidence and situational problem-solving skills.

Throughout the program, laughter, continuous interaction, and a strong spirit of learning filled the room, creating a session that was not only academically beneficial but also friendly and inspiring. LEC believes that each session is a small journey that helps participants accumulate valuable specialized vocabulary. Even if our contributions are modest, we hope to make learning English more approachable and inspiring.

LEC would like to sincerely thank our respected lecturers for taking the time to attend the session. Your presence is a great motivation for the Club to continue this journey.
