I. FUNCTIONS OF THE INTERNATIONAL CENTRE OF COMPARATIVE LAW
The Comparative Law Center, under the Faculty of Law at Can Tho University, was established in June 2005 with the mission of researching, educating, and interpreting legal matters from the perspective of comparative law. Its aim is to meet the demand for legal understanding and exchange between Vietnam and other countries in the context of increasingly deep international economic and legal integration.
The Center actively collaborates with international partners and offers intensive courses on legal institutions in civil law, commercial law, international law, intellectual property, human rights, finance, and more. These courses are available to domestic and international students, with instruction in Vietnamese, English, and French. This multilingual approach allows international students and Vietnamese legal professionals to gain access to foreign legal knowledge.
A key function of the Center is to support the development of a faculty specializing in comparative law, thereby addressing partner law schools' teaching and research needs. The Center also forges strong connections with educational institutions at home and abroad to organize conferences, seminars, and specialized presentations. In addition, it works in partnership with government agencies and legal organizations to carry out legal outreach initiatives, particularly for children and industrial workers, to raise public awareness of citizens' rights and duties, promote legal literacy, and encourage compliance with the law.
Additionally, the Center regularly organizes specialized workshops, providing opportunities for knowledge exchange among faculty, researchers, and students. These efforts contribute to improving the quality of education and refining the teaching model of the Faculty of Law at Can Tho University, aligning it with the demands of international integration.
