“All Vietnamese people stand up and contribute one day. Vow to use blood and bones to fight for the future. August 19th when the nation cries out in anger. Advance together with the cry: “Quickly destroy all common enemies”. August 19th. The light of freedom is brought. The flag flies everywhere, thousands of yellow stars. Blood mixed with red on the flag flies all over the country.” |
The heroic lyrics taken from the song "Nineteenth August" by musician Xuan Oanh take us back to the autumn of 1945 – the autumn of will, patriotism and the strength of the great unity of the whole people. August 19th of that year was deeply engraved in the history of the nation as a dazzling milestone, marking the collapse of the decades-long colonial yoke of foreign invaders, opening a dazzling new page of the nation's history: independence, freedom and happiness for the entire people.
The successful August Revolution is an eloquent proof of the immutable truth: "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom". It is the victory of passionate patriotism, of resilient will, of creative wisdom and of the spirit of national solidarity that nothing can shake. August 19th is not only the day of the successful uprising, but also a symbol of the aspiration to rise up, overcome all difficulties, to win the right to master the country.
Celebrating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the August Revolution is not only to recall a golden page of history, but also to motivate each of us to study, constantly train, strive and join hands to contribute to the construction of the homeland and country. Today's and future generations are determined to bring Vietnam into an era of national growth, increasingly bright, prosperous, and standing shoulder to shoulder with friends from all over the world.
